Hello Transylvania Club members and friends,
I just wanted to officially let everyone know that the Transylvania Club will not be hosting any Oktoberfest related activities for the year 2020. With the lack of our own hall and the unknown future of the Covid-19 Pandemic, it was decided that we could not safely or effectively contribute to the festival this year. We look forward to being back in full stride for the 2021 Festival and see our past Festival friends and to share our traditional delicious Transylvanian Oktoberfest food with everyone.
Please participate safely this year and enjoy what this year’s Festival has to offer.
Dear Transylvania Club members and friends,
I hope and trust that you are all staying healthy and safe. These are truly remarkable times but I firmly believe that if we all listen to the guidelines provided, we can get through this together and be better for it in the end. We have all seen some amazing displays of kindness and consideration shown by many people, and it truly makes me proud to see the strong Canadian spirit.
As you all know, this pandemic has caused all of the German Clubs to cancel their events so far, and we don’t know how long it will be until we are able to gather again. Soon, I hope. With no events ongoing, and nothing really to report, it was decided by the Board of Directors that we would not produce the Nachrichtenblatt for June/July. We are relying on social media, email and the Transylvania grapevine to spread whatever little news there might be. Once there are any significant changes in the social restrictions which are currently in place, we will advise everyone.
Until then, please stay healthy and stay safe. Keep in touch, make those phone calls and video chats to your friends and family. Pull up a chair in the driveway and sit in the sun and wave to your neighbours. We are Saxon….we are strong. We will get through this.
I miss you all. Stay safe.
As we come closer to May, the Board of Directors of the club have decided to cancel Mitgliederabend, which was set to be held on May 2nd. We are staying cautious for our large demographic and believe it is in best interest to cancel this event.
We look forward to the day we can all celebrate again together and collaborate under one roof. Stay safe and stay healthy!
I just wanted to touch base and say hi. I hope everyone is OK and healthy. These are certainly unique times but we know that this too shall pass. I trust you are all staying home and practicing proper social distancing if you need to leave the house. The weather is wonderful right now – go outside and take a leisurely walk around the block, wave to the person standing out on their front porch sipping their coffee.
I truly miss our interactions, our events, our social gatherings. Humans are creatures that thrive on social interaction so you don’t have to be a hermit during this interesting time. Pick up the phone and call that friend, get involved in a video chat or visit someone from a safe distance while you stand in their driveway and they stand on their front porch. We did that with our grandchildren today as they came to visit.
I look forward to the day when we can get together again and greet one another with a warm handshake or hug.
Stay safe, stay healthy. Hope to see you all soon.
Due to the continued uncertainty of the COVID-19 outbreak, and the health and safety of our members is a top priority, the Choir Concert Scheduled for April 4th has been moved to a tentative alternate date: June 27. We will monitor the development of the virus crises and make a definite decision and provide more information when it is possible.
Thank you for your cooperation.
