COVID-19 Update

To further protect Ontarians as the province continues to confront the Delta-driven fourth wave of the COVID-19, the government, in consultation with the Chief Medical Officer of Health, will rerequire people to be fully vaccinated and provide proof of their vaccination status to access certain businesses and settings starting September 22, 2021. Requiring proof of Vaccination in these settings reduces the risk and is an important step to encourage every last eligible Ontarian to get their shot, which is critical to protecting the province’s hospital capacity, while also supporting businesses with the tools they need to keep customers safe, stay open and minimize distruptions.

As of September 22, 2021, Ontarians will need to be fully vaccinated (two doses plus 14 days) and provide their proof of vaccination along with photo ID to access certain public settings and facilities. This approach focuses on higher-risk indoor public settings where face coverings cannot always be worn and includes:

  • Restaurants and bars (excluding outdoor patios, as well as delivery and takeout);
  • Nightclubs (including outdoor areas of the establishment);
  • Meeting and event spaces, such as banquet halls and conference/convention centres;
  • Facilities used for sports and fitness activities and personal training, such as gyms, fitness and recreational facilities with the exception of youth recreational sport;
  • Casinos, bingo halls and gaming establishments;
  • Concerts, music festivals, theatres and cinemas;
  • Strip clubs, bathhouses and sex clubs;
  • Racing venues (e.g., horse racing.)

Individuals who cannot receive the vaccine due to medical exemptions will be permitted entry with doctor’s note until recognized medical exemptions can be integrated as part of a digital vaccine certificate. Children who are 11 years of age and younger and unable to be vaccinated will also be exempt from these requirements.

This requirement will apply to all group practices held by the Transylvania Club, as well as the Transylvania Club’s Annual General Meeting scheduled for Sunday October 3rd, 2021.

Santa is coming for a socially – distanced visit!

Although we can’t be together for Christmas this year, we still want to do something a little fun to spread some Holiday magic! On December 20th from 2 pm to 4 pm, the children from the Alpine Club and the Transylvania club are invited to our Christmas Socially Distanced Drive-Thru where they will get a chance to chat with Santa and receive a little goodie bag of treats from him and his elves. This will be happening from the safety of your cars. We hope to see you all at the Alpine Club with your kids on Sunday, December 20th at 2pm with your masks on!

Oktoberfest 2020 Update

Hello Transylvania Club members and friends,

I just wanted to officially let everyone know that the Transylvania Club will not be hosting any Oktoberfest related activities for the year 2020. With the lack of our own hall and the unknown future of the Covid-19 Pandemic, it was decided that we could not safely or effectively contribute to the festival this year. We look forward to being back in full stride for the 2021 Festival and see our past Festival friends and to share our traditional delicious Transylvanian Oktoberfest food with everyone.

Please participate safely this year and enjoy what this year’s Festival has to offer.

President

Updated message from President Reinhard Schmidt:

Dear Transylvania Club members and friends,

      I hope and trust that you are all staying healthy and safe. These are truly remarkable times but I firmly believe that if we all listen to the guidelines provided, we can get through this together and be better for it in the end. We have all seen some amazing displays of kindness and consideration shown by many people, and it truly makes me proud to see the strong Canadian spirit.

      As you all know, this pandemic has caused all of the German Clubs to cancel their events so far, and we don’t know how long it will be until we are able to gather again. Soon, I hope. With no events ongoing, and nothing really to report, it was decided by the Board of Directors that we would not produce the Nachrichtenblatt for June/July. We are relying on social media, email and the Transylvania grapevine to spread whatever little news there might be. Once there are any significant changes in the social restrictions which are currently in place, we will advise everyone.

      Until then, please stay healthy and stay safe. Keep in touch, make those phone calls and video chats to your friends and family. Pull up a chair in the driveway and sit in the sun and wave to your neighbours. We are Saxon….we are strong. We will get through this.
      I miss you all. Stay safe.

Reinhard Schmidt

Cancellation: Mitgliederabend

As we come closer to May, the Board of Directors of the club have decided to cancel Mitgliederabend, which was set to be held on May 2nd. We are staying cautious for our large demographic and believe it is in best interest to cancel this event.

We look forward to the day we can all celebrate again together and collaborate under one roof. Stay safe and stay healthy!

YES, I want to stay in the loop!
